Bratislava, 1 October 2026 – CzechToll is launching an introductory information campaign on the changes in the operation of the electronic toll system in Slovakia that will take effect from 1 January 2027. The new electronic toll system will be owned by Národná diaľničná spoločnosť, which remains the Toll Collection Administrator.
The campaign is part of the performance of the contract for the provision of toll services concluded with Národná diaľničná spoločnosť. As today, the system will be based on satellite positioning of the vehicle and recording of its movement on designated road sections by means of an on-board unit.
The basic principles of electronic toll collection, the method of toll calculation, the rates, the network of designated road sections and the categories of vehicles subject to toll are not changing in Slovakia. From the hauliers’ point of view, using the system will therefore be very similar to the current one. The prepaid toll regime will be retained in the national electronic toll system. In this regime, it will newly be possible to register one or more vehicles, i.e. even an entire fleet, to a single toll account, and to have several toll accounts set up as needed, for example for separate management of vehicles or costs. Based on a decision of Národná diaľničná spoločnosť, the post-paid toll regime will be discontinued on 31 December 2026. For its existing users, an alternative will be to use the prepaid toll regime for the entire vehicle fleet.
The transition from the current to the new electronic toll system also means that vehicles will need to be pre-registered. Vehicle operators who will use the new national electronic toll system from 1 January 2027 will have to register their vehicles in the new system, enter into new contractual relationships and equip each vehicle with a new on-board unit.
Information on registration, required documents, new on-board units, the prepaid toll regime, payment options, toll account management and customer services will be gradually published on the new information portal at the domain already familiar to hauliers, www.emyto.sk. Detailed practical information on the transition to the new toll system will be available there from 24 November 2026.
Registration of vehicles in the new toll system will begin on 1 December 2026. From the same date, the new Moje mýto customer zone will also be made available to users on the toll portal, where re-registration can be conveniently completed online. Re-registration will also be possible in person at selected customer points; from 1 January 2027, the entire network of customer points will be available to customers. New on-board units can already be collected for registered vehicles. However, they can only be used for journeys in the new electronic toll system from 1 January 2027 at the earliest.
The introductory information campaign will run from 1 October to 31 December 2026, and its intensity will gradually increase as the system launch approaches. CzechToll will inform domestic and foreign hauliers through online media and social networks, Slovak and foreign specialist print media, radio, television and outdoor advertising at selected petrol stations, as well as through the www.emyto.sk portal, direct e-mail and postal communication and professional hauliers’ associations. From 1 October 2026, a customer line of the new Toll Services Provider will also start operating in support of the campaign at +421 222 122 444, answering questions related to the changes in the electronic toll system from 1 January 2027 and to the re-registration of vehicles.
