The scope and structure of the network of designated road sections in the territory of the Slovak Republic to which electronic toll collection applies is determined by Decree No. 228/2020 Coll. of the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic, as amended, which designates the sections of motorways, class I roads and class II roads subject to toll collection.
Network of designated road sections
Under this Decree, the network of designated road sections of the Slovak Republic is divided into the following types of sections:
- designated motorway sections,
- designated class I road sections running parallel to motorways,
- designated class I road sections not running parallel to motorways,
- designated sections of other class I roads,
- designated sections of other class I roads within built-up areas,
- designated class II road sections.
Under the wording of this Decree effective from 1 July 2026, the network of designated road sections in the territory of the Slovak Republic totals more than 8,309 km, of which the total network length consists of:
- 924 km of designated motorway sections,
- 492 km of designated class I road sections running parallel to motorways,
- 1,145 km of designated class I road sections not running parallel to motorways,
- 586 km of designated sections of other class I roads,
- 1,537 km of designated sections of other class I roads within built-up areas,
- 3,625 km of designated class II road sections.
For the purposes of toll payment, within the network of designated road sections a distinction is made between sections to which, under Government Regulation No. 418/2024 Coll. of the Slovak Republic, as amended, a non-zero toll rate applies, and sections to which a zero toll rate applies. The non-zero toll rate applies to designated motorway sections, class I road sections running parallel to motorways, and class I road sections not running parallel to motorways. The zero toll rate applies to designated sections of other class I roads, including sections within built-up areas, and to designated class II road sections. The manner of using designated road sections with electronic toll collection is laid down in Section 5 of the Toll Collection Act, according to which a designated road section may be used in both directions of travel, with each direction of travel assessed separately in the electronic toll system. A designated road section may also be divided into sub-sections at which it is possible to enter or leave the designated road section. This part of the Act also separately regulates the use of designated road sections located within built-up areas of municipalities.

This section provides an interactive map of designated road sections, showing the designated sections of motorways, class I roads and class II roads in the territory of the Slovak Republic, including designated road sections within built-up areas.
The map allows for basic orientation in the scope of the network of designated road sections and in the individual types of sections. It also allows customer points to be displayed and searched for.
