From 1 January 2027, a new national electronic tolling system will be in operation in Slovakia. The transition from the current system to the new one will also mean that vehicles need to be re-registered. Vehicle operators who use the new toll system from that date will need to register their vehicles in it anew. Registration will involve concluding new contractual relationships and equipping vehicles with new on-board units.
The new electronic tolling system will offer a prepaid toll regime. Under this regime, the toll will be paid according to the applicable rates without any additional administrative fees, and using the regime will not involve any minimum contractual commitment. Under this regime, it will now be possible to register not only a single vehicle but also several vehicles, including an entire fleet.
Registration of vehicles in the new toll system will be possible from 1 December 2026, i.e. even before the system starts operating. Registration will be possible online through the new My Toll customer zone, available on the information portal www.emyto.sk, or in person at selected customer points. From 1 January 2027, the entire network of customer points will be available to customers. Vehicles can also be registered through partner fuel card issuers.
Registration will involve submitting and verifying the required data and documents, concluding new contractual relationships and assigning a new on-board unit to each registered vehicle. The registration process will also include an initial top-up of the prepaid toll and payment of a refundable deposit for each on-board unit. No further financial security for toll payment will be required.
The easiest and most convenient option will be to register vehicles online through the My Toll customer zone. Access can be set up by creating an account and verifying your email address. In this secure customer zone, you will be able to fill in the registration details of the operator and of the vehicle or vehicles in advance and upload the required documents. Preparing the registration online will thus make completing it simpler and quicker. After registration, the My Toll customer zone will also be used for online management of the toll account, registered vehicles, payments and documents.
New on-board units for registered vehicles can be collected as early as 1 December 2026. However, they can only be used to pay tolls from 1 January 2027.
