The On-Board Unit is an electronic technical device that provides unequivocal vehicle identification and determines its position by means of the Electronic Toll Collection System. The On-Board Unit is not portable and from 1 January 2010 the Vehicle Operator shall be liable to use it while driving on specified road sections in the Slovak Republic in a vehicle that is liable to pay the toll.
- Satellite GPS technology for determining position (ensuring collection of data about the use of specified road sections);
- GSM/GPRS technology for communication within mobile networks (for data transmission between the On-Board Unit and other IS within the Electronic Toll Collection System);
- Microwave DSRC technology for short-distance communication (for checking the toll payers within the toll collection control process).

Sitraffic Sensus Unit Picture and Brief Description
Without its holder, the Sitraffic Sensus Unit is 145 x 93 x 36mm and weighs about 260g. On the front side of the unit there is a display and a four-direction navigation button with a position indicator that allows the driver to set and use the OBU correctly. The basic equipment for installation into the vehicle by means of a cigarette lighter forms an inseparable part of the OBU.
